Duty and FDP
- Show / End: duty runs from show time to the last landing. FDP rules are in 7.2.10.
- +30 min after landing: added to duty only when the last sector is operated, not airline positioning. Company practice, not in the pages used. FDP is measured to landing unless you tick the setting in Settings.
- End time already includes post-landing min.: app option. The app subtracts the 30 min to find the landing.
- Ground transport at the start: stays inside the duty (it starts at show). At the end: not duty, see Travel below.
Type
- Flight / positioning: gets the FDP check.
- Office, training: counts as duty. 7.2.12 says previous duty (office, GRT, simulator, classroom) counts toward cumulative limits only when followed by an FDP. The app always counts it.
- Standby only: 25% counts as duty (7.2.17.1). Rest after standby not followed by an FDP is 11h (7.2.21.2).
Sectors and limits
- Operated sectors: sets the maximum FDP from Table 1 (7.2.10.1): 13:00 for 1–2, 12:30 for 3, 12:00 for 4, 11:30 for 5, 11:00 for 6+. Passive positioning is not a sector (Note 2).
- Last sector: Operated or Positioning decides whether the +30 min applies.
- Standby (h:mm): 25% added to duty and to the FDP when followed by an FDP (7.2.17.1).
- WOCL: the FDP limit is reduced by 100% of the encroachment (max 2h) if the FDP starts in the WOCL, or by 50% if it ends in or spans it (7.2.10.1). WOCL taken as 02:00–05:59 Lisbon time; the definition is not in the pages used.
- Extended FDP: Table 2 (7.2.10.1.1). Must be planned before the FDP, max two in any 7 days, not permitted with 6 sectors, and with more than 2h of WOCL encroachment only for 1–2 sectors. Rest after it increases by 2h, or 4h if the rest before it was not at least 2h above the minimum. FDPs starting 22:00–04:59 are capped at 11:45. Cap applied after WOCL reductions.
- Status: OK within the basic limit. EXTENDED uses Table 2. DISCRETION is up to 2h over the planned limit and only for unforeseen circumstances after the FDP started (7.2.18). EXCEEDS is over even that.
Split duty
- Split break (h:mm): needs a break of at least 3h (7.2.13). The max FDP rises by half the break for 3:00–6:59, or two thirds for 7:00–9:59. The app does not check the other conditions: max 2 sectors before and 1 after the break, suitable rest location, 3 time zones, WOCL limits.
Rest
- Minimum rest: the longer of 11h and the previous duty period (7.2.21.2). The reduction to 10h (7.2.21.5) is not included.
- Time zones crossed: 3 zones 14:00, 4 zones 14:30, 5 zones 15:00, 6 or more 24:00 (7.2.21.4).
- Travel to rest / to show: travel over 30 min is not duty, but rest increases by the travel time minus 30 min (7.2.21.6). Waiting for transport after duty counts as travel time (Note 1). Delays in getting a room within 15 min add to it (7.2.21.6.1).
- First day of tour: no minimum rest is required before it (7.2.10). It also starts a new group in the Log. An Extended FDP on the first day of a tour adds only 2h to the rest after it (7.2.10.1.1).
- Weekly rest: 36h including two local nights, never more than 168h between weekly rests (7.2.21.3). The app only looks for a gap of 36h or more between duties, not the two local nights.
Accumulated (7.2.12)
- 60 duty hours in 7 consecutive days. Up to 70h only if the excess is positioning to the gateway and an extended weekly rest follows.
- 190 duty hours in 28 consecutive days.
- Not tracked: 100 block hours in 28 days, 900 block hours per year, 2000 working hours per year.
- Commander's discretion lets these limits be exceeded by the same time the FDP is exceeded.
Briefing paste
- Reads the SHOW line for date and show time, and each line with Z and (L) times for sectors. The end is the arrival of the last flight.
- Chauffeur, taxi, self-arranged or similar lines are ground transport, not sectors. Airline or positioning lines count as positioning. Lines without local time (such as Duty Rest) are ignored.
